Hiking is one of the many things that freelance photographer Michelle Daly Deschryver likes to do in her spare time. Living in Reno, Nevada she has access to many exciting hiking trails that are very close to her home. She enjoys hiking because it gives her the chance to enjoy nature, get exercise, and spend time with her growing children.
For an easy day trip she likes to visit the Tahoe Meadows Interpretive Loop or Diamond Peak. The Taho Meadows Interpretive Loop is located at Incline Village, roughly sixteen miles from Reno. It offers a one point three-mile trek through a subalpine meadow that overflows with flowers and wildlife. This hiking trail is considered easy because it is short and flat, one of the reasons she chooses to take her children with her on this excursion. Diamond Peak is also located in Incline Village. This trek averages a half days’ trek for most as the trail is a little over five and a half miles long. The Diamond Peak hike is also flat and easy for hikers of all levels.
For a more moderate or difficult level trek, she likes to visit Mt. Rose near Lake Tahoe and the longer trail at Diamond Peak. Mt. Rose is a full day excursion that covers ten miles of trail. The area is surrounded by pine forests and there is a waterfall in the area that is incredibly scenic. Michelle Daly Deschryver says the longer trek option at Diamond Peak is eleven stunning miles.
